General Information:
The “Schopper Riegler” Beating and Freeness Tester is designed to determine the rate of
drainage of a dilute pulp suspension and express it in terms of the Schopper- Riegler (SR) value.
The SR value is the inverse of the volume of water collected divided by 10. The rate of drainage is
related to the work done on the fibre during beating and refining. The drainage chamber and the
pneumatic cylinder are mounted on a stainless steel frame. The filling chamber is sealed below with
a special screen, which leads to the spreader cone. The cone has two outlet openings. A sealing
cone closes the filling chamber against the spreader cone and prevents the suspension from
escaping before the test actually starts. The sealing cone lifts pneumatically at the speed according
to standard. The Schopper-Riegler freeness (°SR) will be measured by beaker to an accuracy of 0.1
°SR.
